Andy Hazell is an English artist who creates automata using tin foil and sheet metal. A highly versatile talent, he crafts everything from large public sculptures to films, photographs, and automata. “The point of my life is that I make things,” he enthusiastically states. “Making things is a way to make sense of the world and give back a little mystery and wonder.” Andy enjoys working with—or “reworking”—objects that already have a story, items that have been “loved” before. Tin foil, for instance, is one of his favorite materials because it is “easy to cut, shape, and assemble.” For the Modern Automata Museum, he created Cow Boy, an automaton featured in the “Against the Idea of War” exhibition.
