Guido Accascina
Guido Accascina, an engineer, is the creator and current curator of the Modern Automata Museum. His goal is to teach students and their teachers the ability to tell stories through the construction of automata. The European Union funded this project (Clohe Project-518288-LLP-1-2011-1-IT-COMENIUS-CMP), and schools in Estonia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain, and Turkey have adopted this teaching method. The Clohe project website (see the How to Build page) contains hundreds of images and explanatory videos, in both Italian and English, to help anyone interested in creating their own automaton.

In 2020, he created the Teatro Meccanico dei Balli Plastici (Mechanical Theater of Plastic Dances) by Fortunato Depero, marking a hundred years since its first performance. He transformed Depero's puppets into automata, just as Depero himself had envisioned.

The book "Automi" tells the story of these mechanisms from 300 BC Egypt to the present day, featuring writings and drawings of works by ancient automata builders such as the Alexandrians, Arabs, and Europeans, including Heron of Alexandria, al-Jazari, and Janello Turriani, as well as some contemporary builders like Paul Spooner, Keith Newstead, and Peter Markey. The book highlights a technological innovation found in the texts of Heron of Alexandria: possibly the first mechanism capable of executing a program based on a 0/1 sequence.
